Immigration and Refugees is a controversial issue for evangelicals. For more on the viewpoints of both sides and background on Engage Daily's stance, click here and here.
Today's action comes from The Evangelical Immigration Table:
"Ending the DACA program before Congress has passed legislation addressing the situation of “Dreamers,” young people who came to the U.S. as children, would mean that the roughly 800,000 individuals who have been granted DACA would lose their work authorization (either immediately or, more likely, when the authorization expires, as no further renewals would be allowed) and lose the commitment of our federal government to protect them from the threat of deportation.
Various leaders of the organizations that make up the Evangelical Immigration Table sent letters to the President and to Congressional Leaders earlier this week, urging the Congress to quickly pass legislation that would protect these young people and asking the President not to withdraw DACA until a legislative solution is in place."
