Please do take a few minutes to read about, pray for, and "Like" these organizations, and share their stories with others.
On many Sundays I try to highlight a way for us to get more involved in world missions. But this Sunday I continue highlighting the finalists for World Magazine's Hope Award for Effective Compassion. The Hope Award recognizes Christian poverty-fighting programs that offer challenging, personal, and spiritual help, and which are not funded by government. (To see the others highlighted so far, go to the "Poverty" category at the right of the page.) After all five finalists have been featured, I will let you know how to vote for the winner.
Today I highlight the last of the five finalists, the international one: Compassion International's programs in Central America.
As World Magazine's editor in chief Marvin Olasky wrote, "We’re impressed with how Compassion fights fatalism (and its religious, social, and economic causes and results) through programs that help children while bulwarking local churches."
Please take just a few minutes and do at least one of the following:
- Read the full World Magazine profile of Compassion's work in Central America
- Pray for the work of Compassion International
- Like Compassion International on Facebook
- Consider sponsoring a child through Compassion International
