"When men, women, and youth come home from prison, jails, and juvenile facilities, they face numerous challenges: rebuilding relationships with their families, finding work and housing, and avoiding temptations that threaten their opportunity for a fresh start. Since 2008, however, states have seen dramatic decreases in recidivism rates as tens of thousands have been served through mentoring, career training, family-based substance abuse treatment, and other reentry programs made available through the Second Chance Act. Unfortunately, the authorization for these "second chance" resources expires this year, putting these critical programs at risk if Congress does not act!"
